The chapel of Santa Barbara in La Val

Suspended between heaven and earth, the chapel of Santa Barbara, consecrated in 1491, is a great little gem of immense historical and artistic value. It is thought to have been built by the miners of Valparola and for that reason is dedicated to their patron saint, Santa Barbara. Just one kilometre from the village of La Valle, the chapel can be easily reached on a half-hour stroll that takes you along the meditation path "Memento Vivere". The path has five stations dedicated to the key stages in life, set within a beautiful and ancient larch wood. The church of Santa Berbura, in Ladin, is undoubtedly one of the most charming spots in Alta Badia. It's no wonder that it has become one of the most popular attractions for photographers.
